SHAKTIMA BRIEN

Shaktima BrienShaktima Brien is a Palm Springs Art Museum Artist Council’s member. Her paintings have been exhibited four times at The Palm Springs Art Museum and one painting is in the Marks Administration Building. In 2012, Brien curated the first Surreal Show at Gallery 446 in Palm Springs, expanding from LACMA’S Surreal Exhibition earlier that year. She was also in a group show at Jeanie Madsen Gallery in Santa Monica and she has just released her first Art Book “Painting Her Story", a monograph with an essay by Betty Ann Brown, PhD. Art Historian. She is also preparing for a 2014 Solo exhibition in Los Angeles.

Shaktima’s work has been featured at the International Museum of Women since 2008. She is the author of “Angelina and Men”. She also wrote, won First Place at the Palm Springs Writer’s Guild Screenplay Contest. In 2004, Brien’s tableaux were exhibited at the UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History for the premiere of “Signs of Time” (Marija Gimbutas’s “Language of the Goddess”). In the 90’s, selected paintings were included in a spiritual art exhibition juried by Judy Freeman, Associate Curator of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for “The Spiritual in Art
(Maurice Tuschman)”. Others were sold at the Shirley MacLaine and Whoopi Goldberg Art Auction in Long Beach. Brien has collectors in France, Italy, Switzerland, Canada and the Unites States.
