Collect Mardi-Jo Cohen

Mardi-Jo Cohen is a jewelry designer born in Brooklyn, New York and currently residing in Southern California. She went to school at Tyler School of Art, Temple University and graduated in 1982 and has been creating uniquely elegent and dramatic work since 1986.

A recipient of a national endowment for the arts grant, Cohen has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. Her work is included in numerous private and public collections, including The Museum of Art and Design and Yale University. Cohens imaginative combination of classic forms and color transforms every-day objects into unique works of art that reflect her innovative vision.

Colored elements in her work usually consist of precious and semi precious stones, cut up cds, buttons, acrylic, glass, swaroski, crystals, formica, cut up lunch boxes, and vintage buttons. The bracelets are made of sterling silver, cds, buttons, lunch box cutouts, and acrylic paint.

Mardi-Jo Cohen is available for commisions; below are pictures of previous commissions.

This commision was for Philadelphia Collectors Harvey and Arlene Kaplan from Short Hills, NJ for 24 stering silver, acrylic, and semi precious stones.

This commision was for a NY/LA Collector Jenette Kahn; she wanted me to use the plate as a source of inspiration. They had a cartoonish drawing of a black and white fork and knife. She wanted pure colour as well as all no repition at all. To say this was a challenge would be an understatement. The service was for 10 three-pieces per setting. Every piece is one of a kind.
