 Amadea Bailey was born in Germany and spent her childhood years in Kenya, East Africa. She was educated at Yale University and went on to finish her art studies at the New York Studio School in Manhattan.She is at heart an expressionist painter. Her work is emotionally driven , highly textured and oriented around the immediate process of painting. This means she rarely has a plan when she begins but allows the painting to unfold as she goes along. “ I enter into a dance with each new canvas and never have a clue where I am going to end up.” She moves back and forth from oil, to mixed media and collage, versatile in all three.  She has shown in numerous galleries and her work is in many private and public collections across the country, including that of Halle Berry who owns six of her paintings. She has traveled extensively and has lived in London, Paris, and New York. She speaks fluent French and Italian. Currently she lives and works in Los Angeles, five minutes from the ocean. Her studio is a spectacular space that she designed and had built from the ground up and which has been featured in a number of national commercials, T.V shows, and motion pictures. Though painting is her primary love, she is also passionate about surfing, dance, architecture and fashion.
