CAMERON DERBY
by Cameron Derby

Originally from Akron, Ohio, Cameron Derby has been drawing since she could pick up a crayon. Growing up under an artistic roof and raised by a painter and creative art director, Cameron has always been surrounded by creativity.

"I attended a performing arts middle school in Akron where I continued to draw, and after taking a photography class in high school I began my photography career."

Following high school, she went on to Columbia College Chicago where she got her Bachelor degree in Photography. Cameron states she has always had an interest in people and a passion for portraiture. Chicago’s atmosphere and diversity is what inspired her to do documentary and behind the scenes work, live photography, and more fine art portraiture.

"My work has allowed me to collaborate with a variety of artists, create album covers, and have published pieces in several local Chicago magazines and websites. After almost 5 years in Chicago a need for change and opportunity lead me to move to California. Since living on the west coast I began to merge my photography and drawing together. Photography portraits morphed into pencil drawn portraits with touches of color in my most recent endeavor. Color, culture and people will always be an inspiring force behind my work whether it be photography or drawings."
